Madison Police Department
It is the mission of the Madison Police Department to safeguard the lives and property of the people we serve, to reduce the incidence and fear of crime and to enhance public safety while working with the diverse communities to improve their quality of life. Our mandate is to do this with honor and integrity, while at all time conducting ourselves with the highest ethical standards to maintain public confidence. We will strive to meet our mission by maintaining the core values of our Department: Trust, Compassion, Professionalism, Integrity, and Respect.
TRUST. Trust is our foundation, and our effectiveness as a department revolves around it. Truthfulness is expected by the public and will be demanded of our officers. Our trust will remain above reproach.
COMPASSION. We will not lose our "desire to help" those in need while completing our mission. We will have the courage and wisdom to be fair when carrying out our duties and responsibilities.
PROFESSIONALISM. We are committed to providing effective, efficient, and courteous service to our community. We will strive to continually provide training and leadership for our officers to accomplish our goals and to serve our community.
INTEGRITY. By understanding that we are held to a higher standard in the eyes of the public, we will conduct ourselves, both professionally and personally, in a manner that will not bring discredit to us as individuals or as a department.
RESPECT. Respect is a two-way street. It is earned, not demanded. We will strive to earn the respect of our community by respecting those we serve.
